Chickpea and 30 Year-Old T Thai Say Farewell

Welcome to the Friday shutter. Know of any other restaurant that has served its last? Let us know.

2009_10_chickpeashutterphoto.jpg1) Lower East Side: The Chickpea on Houston and Eldridge closed down a week and a half ago. The year-old place never really seemed to take off in the nabe, and that leaves the onetime sprawling Chickpea empire with just one lone storefront on 14th St. Update: There is also a location on 688 6th Avenue between 21st and 22nd. Sorry Chickpea! [ShutterWire]

2) Park Slope: Brownstoner brings the news that T Thai, a second floor restaurant on 7th Avenue and Carroll St. closed down last week as well. Perhaps it was no Chanterelle, but the restaurant was in business for almost 30 years. [Brownstoner]
