Meet the 70 Items on El Chod's Tanuki Tavern Menu

As chronicled in the first installment of "Tuesdays with Jeffrey," Jeffrey Chodorow and his cabal of designers, partners, and helpers were busy last week opening Tanuki Tavern, the restaurant that replaced Ono on the 7th. While it's been open for five days, reps say El Chod and his chefs didn't fully nail down the final menu until this weekend. So here, now, we offer a glimpse of the insanity of Tanuki's offerings. Is there a burger? There sure is, and it's a pretty good one. How about maki rolls? Yep, along with sushi. Tempura mushrooms? Uh huh. Soba? Yes, sir. Pork T-bone, fried chicken, and angel hair with clams? Check. Add in bone marrow, scallops wrapped in bacon, and chicken liver. It is an izakaya after all. Beyond that, there's an extensive cocktail menu and perhaps some of the only Hitachino White Ale served on tap in the city.
