Boulud Taking W63rd St. Bank, Opening Two New Venues

Daniel Boulud and Ben Leventhal at a Coffee Talk this afternoon.

Today, at the Coffee Talks at the illy Pushbutton House on the Gansevoort Street square in MePa, master of ceremonies Daniel Boulud quietly confirmed earlier reports that he's taken possession of the Chase bank on the corner of West 63rd and Broadway—and he provided specific details on what he's going to do with it. D-Bigs is giving us two concepts: First, right on the corner he'll do a market-driven, sandwiches, pastries, bread, ultra-casual take-away type affair; next to it, a proper restaurant of to be determined, new concept will be installed. He didn't indicate the timing for either. For historical context, recall that this is the Chase bank into which Bar Boulud was initially intended to go, until Chase unexpectedly exercised a option to extend its lease. Insert only Daniel Boulud takes over a bank irony joke here.
