East Village: The Butcher Bay saga has been quite the interesting one. A quick background: Partners Adam Cohn and Adam Kushner opened restaurant Seymour Burton last year, won some praise for their burger, and closed the place after a crushing DOH inspection. Kushner left, Cohn joined with the E.U's Jason Hennings and Bob Giraldi, and Butcher Bay, a mid-Atlantic seafood concept, was born. As a small but curious aside: we've been hearing some noise from tipsters that the Hennings/Giraldi duo are in charge of concept and design and are trying to keep the associations with the former restaurant to a minimum.
In September, it was projected for November. In November, it was projected for December. And on January 5th, Time Out published a photo of succulent "pan-roasted scallops with bacon and corn at Butcher Bay". "Beat the crowds," they wrote. Above, the state of Butcher Bay at 3:30 last Friday.
