New, 3 comments

1) East Village: EV Grieve notes that Coyi Cafe, the coffee shop on Avenue B between 3rd and 4th, has its signage up and is getting closer to opening. [PLYWOOD]

2) West Village: A tipster reports a new thin crust pizza joint named Spunto has just been unveiled on 7th Ave South above Carmine St. on the east side of the avenue. [PLYWOOD]

3) Midtown: Midtown Lunch reports that "overpriced (but admittedly pretty tasty) falafel place" Crisp is expanding and opening a second location. The new spot will open in March on 40th between Broadway and 6th Avenue. [PLYWOOD]

4) Brooklyn Height While previous reports that Five Guys is taking over the Busy Chef space in Park Slope turned out to be false, Brooklyn Paper reports that burger chain does hope to expand in Brooklyn soon: "Despite the Court Street deal falling through, Cohen said he is actively looking at other locations...Cohen said his Downtown focus is on Metrotech and along Fulton Mall, as well as looking further down Court Street in Cobble Hill, and in Atlantic Terminal in Fort Greene." [PRE-PLYWOOD]

5) Dumbo: Brownstoner reports Ignazio's, a new restaurant that has been a long time coming to Dumbo, is going to open next month: "Granted, it looks like it's designed to be more upscale than your average by-the-slice joint, but still, it's gotta be coming up on two years now." [PLYWOOD]
