The new "pizza bar" going in on 3rd between 22nd and 23rd
1) Gramercy: As mentioned in the Shutter Report, Push Cafe at 294 3rd Ave. has closed. Our tipster noticed a pizza oven going in and construction workers tell us it's going to be a "pizza bar." It looks like it won't be a typical slice joint. [PLYWOOD]
2) Fort Greene: Fork in the Road reports new Ethiopian restaurant Bati is moving into 747 Fulton Street in Fort Greene: "The menu will feature traditional Ethiopian fare but with more vegetarian options than usual." [PLYWOOD]
3) Gramercy: Strongbuzz reports that a long delayed expansion of Defonte's, the Red Hook sandwich shop, is finally good to go in Gramercy: "Owner Nicky Defonte is an old school Deli man who’s been in the business all his life, making hot and cold sandwiches and his famous oversized(Longshoreman style) heroes since he inherited the business from his dad (his walk in dates to 1922)." [PLYWOOD]
4) Fidi: And a sighting from a FiDi tipster: "This place has a sign up finally at 90 Worth St (bt Bway and Church) It's a focacceria. Looks cute. Spoke to construction worker, says it'll be open first week in Feb." [PLYWOOD]
4) Midtown: A tipster reports that a new Famous Dave's BBQ is coming soon to West 47th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues next to Tad's Steaks. Midtown Lunch has more. [PLYWOOD]
5) Williamsburg: Grub Street brings the news that the owners of the shuttered Luna Lounge (soon to be the Knitting Factory) are looking for a new location for their music venue and are planning a bar, Satellite Lounge at 143 Havemeyer Street: "You'll be able to hear plenty of current indie rock as well as lots of favorite older stuff from many of the previous music scenes from the last twenty years. It will not have 'live' music." [PLYWOOD]
