The Daily Achatz

With sister site Eater Chicago due to launch next month—oh, did we mention we're launching Eater Chicago next month?— we figured it was the perfect time to focus on Chicago's darling Grant Achatz. By the middle of next month, you’ll have all the Chicago news you can handle at chicago.eater.com. Until then a regular dose of submissions from our ticket giveaway for Grant Achatz's book party/tasting event at Astor Center on November 6.

An ode to Alinea food
In far Chicago he sets the mood.

From the sea for you he grabs
Bigeye tuna and king crabs.
Fresh lobster too that comes each morn
Prepared with butter and popcorn.

For finest fowl with some luck
He will roast splendid duck
With chocolate, blueberry and Thai spice
Tastes so good you'll want it twice.

Fine meats is what he puts his stamp on
With waygu beef and apple bacon.
And drippy goodness of short rib
So don't forget to bring a bib.

Yes this man of many fats
Is the chef named Grant Achatz.
