Disaster Report: Kitchen Fire Closes Cafe Charbon

New, 2 comments

Lower East Side: The perennially crowded (more for the location than the food we imagine) Orchard St. spot Cafe Charbon has been closed since Tuesday afternoon due to a kitchen fire. The kitchen staff tells us no one was injured and they're not exactly sure how it happened. They have been working on fixing everything up over the last two days and hope to be reopened by tomorrow night, if not earlier. At least it sounds less serious than the recent fire at Sweetwater in Williamsburg, which shuttered that restaurant for almost the entire month of August.
