Labor Woes: Kittichai Joins Wild Edibles Boycott

New, 4 comments

Kick a guy while he's down eh? Kittichai, the upscale Thai restaurant in the 60 Thompson, has become the latest restaurant to boycott Wild Edibles, the bankrupt seafood purveyor in the middle of a nasty labor dispute with its workers. The company, which is $2.1 million in debt to creditors has already been boycotted by China Grill Management, One if By Land, Two if By Sea, Union Square Cafe, and over 30 other high profile restaurants around the city because its workers have accused management of "stealing overtime pay." According to a press release from the employees' rep, Brandworkers International, "While Wild Edibles has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, the company continues to operate its business and workers have vowed to continue the campaign until they win the respect they are seeking."
