Welcome to Apothéke, one of the city's newest already-hot cocktail bars, located down on Doyers Street in Chinatown. It doesn't open fully to the public until September 5 during fashion week, but enough media types have been able to get a peek to let us know the place is going to be something big. Just about every write-up mentions that the street it's on is referred to as the Bloody Angle (due to gang wars!), it's housed in a former opium den, and the cocktail whiz Albert Trummer is the second coming in the world of mixology. Urban Daddy finds the place "surprisingly sexy and spacious," while Cutty admits she's stunning and Thrillist—which has already nicknamed it 'Theke—relegates their word count to describing the aesthetic touches and layout of the menu.

We'll have to wait until the end of next week to hear the early reports from the city's cocktail obsessives. But if you're going by the care that went into the space, the theme, and in choosing the talent, along with the amount of pre-opening buzz this spot is getting, it looks like there's a lot of potential here. Further reading here and here.
