Former Bar BQ Will Reopen Tonight as Safe Haven Bar & Grill [Photo Credit]
1) Koreatown/Murray Hill: Flo Fab reports that Zorzi, a new restaurant featuring Venetian cuisine will open this week in the nameless hood where Murray Hill and Koreatown intersect. She writes: “It is backed by the Zorzi family, which has trailer, truck and catering businesses in Treviso, Italy. The sleek place, in metal, stone and mosaic, has 130 seats. Marco Berto, below, prepares specialties like scallops and fava beans with radicchio; salt cod risotto; lasagna with fish sauce; and stewed cuttlefish with polenta.” Status: Certified Open. 1 East 35th Street; 212-213-9167. 2) Upper East Side: File this one under makeovers: Cavatappo Grill, formerly Luca, has been reported open this week by TONY. They write: “Restaurateur Luca Marcato has recast his decade-old Upper East Side eatery, Luca, as the more casual Cavatappo Grill. Old favorites like duck ragù, gnocchi and ravioli will remain on the menu, with an added section for crowd-pleasers like burgers, sandwiches and cheese plates.” Status: Unknown. 3) Midtown: As reported in Listage the other day, Clo Wine Bar, featuring a snazzy digital sommelier opened in the Time Warner Center. TONY has the writeup: “Here, a motion-activated wine list allows patrons to navigate more than 100 international selections, dispensed in two- or four-ounce pours via one of 12 Enomatic wine-preservation systems. Those still in need of some human interaction can converse with on-site experts Keith Goldston and Darius Allyn (both also formerly of Aureole Las Vegas).” Status: Certified Open. 10 Columbus Circle; 212-823-9898. 4) South Slope/Greenwood Heights: Brownstoner reports that a new bar is going into the recently shuttered Bar BQ called Safe Haven Bar and Grill. They write: “In the space Bar BQ occupied for four years, on 6th Ave and 20th Street in the South Slope/Greenwood Heights, a new bar will open...today. Safe Haven Bar and Grill will offer $5 Six Point Craft Ales, brewed right here in Brooklyn, and free food all night long. Of course, that's just for the grand opening.
