It's time for another edition of Adventures in Shilling, in which we fight shilling the best way we can, by shaming tasteless, unscrupulous shills into submission. Well, that's the plan, at least. Fight shills yourself by dropping offensive links to firstname.lastname@example.org
This week we have quite a number of shills from the Eater comments, but the highlight comes from Midtown Lunch. The valiant Zach Brooks is in the middle of an all out commenting war with an accused reverse shiller, and things are heating up. But first, to the small fries:
This short little comment following the announcement that Country Steak would open in March '09 along with the Carleton Hotel could just be from a fan of the hotel. But it just doesn't seem to fit: "I think it makes sense to launch the two at the same time and whatever they decide to do, The Carlton is a fabulous hotel!"

We've got a couple of shills for new coffee shop D'espresso, one from a first time commenter, another made anonymously: "D'Espresso is really a great place to grab a coffee or something delicious to eat. I love the atmosphere and the employees were very sweet. Highly recommend!!"

A reader points out the Menupages page for Florencia 13: "Not only do they
obviously know way too much about the restaurant, but the postings a day later that call out the person from the day prior as 'not knowing what they are talking about' are just too much." And a look over at the site reveals a number of great shills over the past year. Here's the only recent one: "Ate at F13 a month ago. Have eaten at several Mexican restraunts in the village, below and above. This one wins, I had zero complaints. Everyone around us was remarking how great the food was. Fun albeit tightly packed atmosphere."

And we've got a shiller in the comments section for the new Nolita restaurant Lulu: "Lulu is my favorite. I thought BRead was great, but the owners opened something EVEN better. 235 Mulberry Street, Lulu is a great little gastropub. I ordered the steak and a ceviche appetizer and they were perfect. The mixed drinks are amazing, the decor is wonderful. I love this Nolita spot!"

Some reverse shilling (i.e. trashing) going on over on Midtown Lunch on a Dessert Truck post has turned into an all out war between the accused trasher and the blog's editor Zach Brooks. Brooks points out that two negative comments were made three minutes apart at 10:30 at night from the same IP address from people with fake email addresses. His commenter calls him "Ashcroftesque", and that's when it starts to get ugly.
