The Build Out: Phase Two at City Winery

New, 2 comments

Welcome to the Build Out, a new series where we'll chronicle the construction of major venues, in this case City Winery, Manhattan's first winery and tasting room, opening in a massive space in West Soho. Check in during the coming weeks for grape deliveries, restaurant build-outs, and of course, the final big reveal.

At the beginning of the month we brought you a first look at City Winery, the giant two floor winery/music venue/restaurant/wine bar/bar mitzvah party palace from the founder of the Knitting Factory, Michael Dorf. Over three weeks later, there's still a lot of work to go, but we have some new looks at the conveyor belts used for the grapes, the bar, the stage, the bathrooms, the barrel rooms, and more. In this phase of construction, Dorf tells us he's is doing about two wine tastings a day to create the final list, planning out tastings, events, and seminars, and overseeing the build out. Meanwhile his winemaker David Lecomte awaits the first grape shipments. Click through for more details and a closer look.
