Tomorrow, Frank Bruni reviews Perbacco, the longstanding East Village restaurant that's gotten the critical eye of late, following the arrival of Simone Bonelli, young whipper snapper chef. Today, the Eater oddsmakers have set the action as follows:
Zero Stars: 6-1Certainly, The Frank Bruni will put a restaurant on the map tomorrow, with either an unexpected blockbuster deuce or a buzz-confirming one-spot. Chef Bonelli has been attracting very serious attention since he landed a small number of months ago, collecting informal accolades while chefs and critics have come in to see what's what. The Bruni loves Italian food and loves putting a legitimate sleeper on the map, so there's going to be high praise here either way. The other thing that's in play this week is the Little Owl Theorem, which gets very small restaurants with moderate price, earnest service and overachieving food two stars. Hence, call us crazy, but Eater is going with the deuce.
One Star: 2-1
Two Stars: 4-1 ??
Three Stars: 15-1
Four Stars: 25,000-1
