EaterWire: BLVD Closed by the Cops, Food Network's 'Amazing Race', Fro-Yo Alterations

New, 6 comments

BOWERY— Our roving photographer writes in to let us know that Bowery Club BLVD has been shuttered by the police: "Two bright orange signs are pasted in the front door, one reading 'closed by court order' the other says 'Restraining Order' and that the 'unlawful sale of alcoholic beverages' is prohibited." Steve Lewis hears the same but has no conclusive intel on when they'll reopen. [EaterWire]

LOS ANGELES— Eater LA had some intel on the Food Network casting call, but apparently the mainstream media has now caught wind of it: "Food Network is getting into the competitive eating genre with a new series, tentatively titled 'Eat the Clock.' The show is described as a cross between an eating competition and 'The Amazing Race.' Two teams of contestants rush to various Los Angeles eateries and gorge themselves in face-stuffing challenges." EAST VILLAGEVery Berry, one of the endless copycat fro-yo chains on St. Mark's Place, has changed its name to Saec, perhaps so it won't be confused with Pinkberry. [Cutlets]
