SOHO— After an incredibly long and and bitter battle with the community board and the SLA, restaurant and jazz bar Lola was finally granted both its liquor license and its music license following multiple trips to the Supreme Court. From their rep: "After months of grueling struggle...I am pleased to announce that they are now operating at full capacity. This triumphant rebirth includes nightly jazz, R&B and gospel performances, with a creative cocktail list and French-inspired Cajun and Creole cuisine." [EaterWire]
SOHO— Cutlets reports that Soho restaurant Bun is trying once again to go 24 hours. And they're engaging in the same marketing tactics that turned them into such a shitshow last time around: "...in a stunning show of chutzpah, they’re repeating the free-food promotion that got them in hot water in the first place — Bun’s website advertises FREE FOOD from midnight to 6 a.m. during Saturdays and Sundays in August and September. " [Cutlets, previously]
UNION SQUARE— Lord: "I wanted to let you know about the next performance in the 'Home by 9' music series in Blue Water Grill’s Jazz Room, taking place on Tuesday, September 9th with an intimate performance by Chris Barron, lead singer of the Spin Doctors, from 5:30-9:00pm. Tickets for the show will include a three-course prix fixe menu for $98 per person." [EaterWire]
CHINATOWN— A third day in a row of DOH Chronicles. From the inbox: "The DOH Gestapo shut down U-Choose Express as of 8/14. Not a huge loss for Chinatown, but a shutdown none the less." [EaterWire]
