Disaster Report: Major Kitchen Fire Shutters Williamsburg's Sweetwater

New, 6 comments

An eerie scene at Williamsburg's Sweetwater, with friends and employees of the restaurant standing outside and consoling one another. Earlier today, as rumored by the Zagat, a a fire tore through the back of the restaurant, rendering the kitchen "pretty much gone," in the words of the owner. An employee with the fire cleanup service said the restaurant "won't be serving dinner today or tomorrow, that's for sure," an opinion with which the owner agreed. Although folks on the scene suspected an electrical fire, no one will know for sure until the fire marshal comes through later today. On the bright side - if there is one - the dining room seemed unharmed and no one was hurt. A local resident has some photos from the scene earlier.
