EaterWire: Ruby Tuesday's Getting Blown Up, Harvest in the Square, and a Slideshow Potluck (or Slideluck Potshow)

New, 2 comments

NATIONWIDE— In an attempt to bring attention to their brand and advertise a major overhaul, Ruby Tuesday's plans to blow up one of their restaurants on August 5th. According to Brandweek, the company is changing its menu from "bar & grill" to "simple, fresh, American dining" and is getting rid of their "Tiffany lamps and tchotchkes." Anything to avoid the fate of Bennigan's, we suppose. [Brandweek via Gawker]

UNION SQUARE— Tickets are now on sale for 2008 Harvest in the Square. The event is like so many of those other "Taste of ...." deals except all of the chefs here have to cook with items from the Greenmarket. Tickets are $115. [EaterWire]

GREENPOINT— Wonder what the DOH thinks of this. On August 2nd the 2008 Slideluck Potshow makes its Brooklyn debut. All attendees (500 are expected) are asked to bring a dish to the slideshow and share. Apparently the organizers have held successful potlucks in 40 other cities, so they aren't concerned about the obvious issues (food poisoning, unhygienic hipsters) [Brooklyn Paper]
