1) East Village: A new Japanese restaurant is opening on the corner of 13th and 3rd Avenue. The workers there tell us it will be called "E" and it will open in about four weeks. [PLYWOOD]
2) East Harlem: Jeremiah's Vanishing brings the news that the Love Truck, a coffee truck that made the blogs last year for looking exactly like the MUD trucks and pretending to be related to them, is opening up a brick and mortar operation. According to the signage painted on the doors, it will be called "NYC Love Street Coffee Cafe" and it's opening on Pleasant Ave. in East Harlem. [PLYWOOD]
3) East Village: EV Grieve checks in on the Bao 111 space on Avenue C (Bao is purportedly moving to the West side) and noticed the new tenants have changed the paint job from green to yellow. They hope to open by the end of summer with a French-Caribbean theme. [PLYWOOD]
4) Williamsburg: From a Williamsburg correspondent: "Not only did Kate's Brooklyn Joint close but that great graffiti front is gone. According to the guy there on the left installing the air conditioner, what's coming is a Mexican place, "cheap and open late" by the name of La Superior." It's on Berry and South 2nd and is set to open on August 4. [PLYWOOD]
5) Greenpoint: A tipster notices some progress on the Sakura space on Manhattan Ave in Greenpoint: "Mostly exciting because it's been in the works for so long, not that the neighborhood necessarily needs another Asian place. But it's better than another damn bank and the inside is looking pretty good." [PLYWOOD]
