EaterWire: Matsugen Lunch, Ducasse's Deal with Bocuse, and Hagar Spotted at La Esquina

TRIBECA— The Feed reports that Matsugen is now open for lunch. And it's not entirely unaffordable: "We speak of the $32 bento box, which comes with four pieces of sushi, shrimp and vegetable tempura, and a choice of hot or cold soba. Considering that some dishes alone can fetch more than $150, we say thank you, Mr. Vongerichten, for giving humble folks like us a chance to dine here." [TONY]

LYON— Gael Greene reports a rumor that Alain Ducasse will take over Paul Bocuse's famed eponymous restaurant outside Lyon when he dies. Just one more property to add to his growing portfolio: "Rumblings among New York’s French ex-pats say that the ambitious global entrepreneur, who abandoned his pots to become a cuisinary oligarch, has a deal with the ailing giant of French cooking. It’s not clear who will pay what to whom." [Insatiable Critic via Cutlets]

SOHO— Gothamist spotted Sammy Hagar at La Esquina last night pushing his Cabo Wabo tequila. The conclusion after a taste test: all tequila tastes the same after you drink enough of them. [Gothamist]
