Monday Opening Report: 1 Dominick, Corner Burger, Cafe Zest Certified Open

1) Soho West: Thrillist is reporting that Jimmy Carbone of Jimmy's 43 is opening a new spot over in West Soho called 1 Dominick. They're BYOB for now, and here's a little more on the food: "Grub-wise, AM options include pastries...and savories...Lunch is a chalkboard selection of small plates and paninis made-to-order, but the real deal's dinner: a collection of warm and cold share plates like Alici (marinated white anchovies, celery heart, black olives, pine nuts), Anguria (watermelon, ricotta salta, cherry tomato, mint, olive oil), and Fried Bologna Tramezzino." Status: Certified Open. 1 Dominick St, Soho; 212.647.0202 x308. [Thrillist]

2) Greenwich Village: NY Mag has caught wind of the plywooded Carerra going into the old DeMarco's space. Here's a little more info: "Partners Frederick Twomey and Stefan Mailvaganam have converted the former De Marco’s in the South Village into a second branch of the tapas bar, equipped with Moroccan tile, high tables, and an identical menu. Until the liquor license arrives, you’ll have to make do with virgin sangria and mocktails." Status: Unknown, phone calls not answered (but we're guessing they're not open yet). 146 W. Houston St., Greenwich Village; 212-253-9500 [NYM]

3) Park Slope: Last week A Hamburger Today and OTBKB reported that new Slope burger joint Corner Burger is now open. Here's AHT with some details: "Eight-ounce burgers on big, sesame seed white bread buns. We're told that flame-grilling is the modus cookerandi. An array of 'signature burgers,' including the Paris Burger (mushroom and Swiss), the Texan Burger (fried egg), the English Burger (on English muffin)—you get the picture." Status: Certified Open. 381 Fifth Avenue, Park Slope. [AHT; OTBKB]

4) Midtown: Midtown Lunch reported last week that Cafe Zaiya is expanding to open a new spot on 47th between Lexington and 3rd called Cafe Zest by Zaiya: "A slightly upscale version of Cafe Zaiya, Cafe Zest sports an almost identical line up of goods, with a nicer (albeit much smaller) dining area in the back. Sandwiches, bento boxes, rice balls, and a full dessert bar towards the back- plus they’re selling pre-packaged goods from Nonoca, a new restaurant concept opening in August." Status: Certified Open. 143 East 47th St., Midtown. [Midtown Lunch]
