The Brooklyn Paper checks in with the Red Hook vendors (set to make their '08 debut this weekend) to see just how much debt they've accrued to comply with city regulations: "The financial costs of purchasing and retrofitting carts, combined with half a season of lost sales, have sent many vendors deep into the red. 'The losses are major,' said Marcos Lainez...'It’s going to take at least two and a half years to recover all the money we have lost.'" We also learn much of the delay this summer was due to a backed up Queens repairman, who took weeks longer than he promised to overhaul the carts. [BP]
