Lower East Side: Vasmay Lounge, the cheapish LES dive known for their punk-heavy jukebox, cheap drinks, and for replacing lesbian bar Meow Mix has closed and is moving two blocks down Houston to 179 Essex, the space of the former Essex Ale House. No word on what's going in, but it's a prime corner spot on Houston and Suffolk. A new retail spot able to pay ridiculous rent wouldn't be out of the question.
