EaterWire AM Edition: NYMag Buys Menupages

As suspected by many industry insiders for a couple months now, New York Magazine has acquired Menupages, the city's most well known menu guide and restaurant database. According to PaidContent, which broke the news yesterday, this is the first major online buy for the magazine, which relaunched its own website earlier this year:

"This buy continues the transformation of NYMag.com, which until its relaunch earlier this year, was a somewhat-sleepy site offering random NYC information and news, besides the magazine’s content. It has since morphed itself into a thriving hub of online info, news and gossip..."
Back of the envelope analysis: It's a great database with lots of use for NYMag. Nice traffic, Nice brand. The integration will be interesting to watch, as will NYMag's treatment of Menupages' other major cities.
