The Plywood Report: Apiary, Porchetta, Corner Burger, and More!

New, 3 comments

1) East Village: Apiary, Neil Manacle's New American restaurant at 60 3rd Ave, was originally scheduled to open on June 16. The place is still covered in plywood today, but they've made it onto OpenTable with this description:" Apiary fills a unique niche in the East Village...the chef’s interpretation of American, Regional and Seasonal ingredients will exceed the expected and excite the palates of the guest, offered with all the warmth of hospitable service in a refined setting." [PLYWOOD]

2) East Village: On Monday Vittles Vamp brought the news that Sara Jenkins will open a sandwich shop in the East Village called Porchetta, and Flor Fab chimes in with some more info: "Sara Jenkins plans to open this shop with a small counter. She will roast pigs and slice the loin and belly for sandwiches." [PLYWOOD]

3) Park Slope: A reader writes in with a plywood sighting in the Slope: "On the corner of 6th street and 5th ave, near chip shop, a new burger spot called 'Corner Burger' seems to be coming in. Great for the neighborhood assuming it is good, but this corner hasn't had great success in the past...the place used to be Mediterra and the owners are converting the restaurant into a burger place but will still offer a few items off their previous menu (which was Turkish)." [PLYWOOD]

4) Tribeca Our roving photographer stops by two new plywoods in Tribeca: "A few are different angles on what looks like two new restaurants coming in side by side on Warren Street. One is where UKNY used to be (then it was Roisin Dubh) Now it's the one with all the clamps on the bar. Next door the sign says Brick is coming soon, a wine and antipasti bar." [PLYWOOD]

5) City Hall Park: Our roving photog also grabs a shot of the shuttered, and for rent space down on Murray St.: "..the one with the rent sign on it is 6 Murray, which back in December had a sign that the 'roadhouse' was moving into it. That was 'the new' A. & M. Roadhouse...I guess that didn't last long. There's teary signage on their website and the music schedule never made it past February." [PRE-PLYWOOD]
