The founder of Benihana and controversial public figure Rocky Aoki, died at age 69 last night. Aoki first popularized teppanyaki cooking when he opened Benihana in New York in 1964. Since then he married three times, had seven children, launched a porn mag, became a master boat racer, was convicted of insider trading, had a very public and nasty legal battle over his business with his children, and made tens of millions of dollars off his growing restaurant chain.
