Subject: Bait and Switch at Pit Spot
A couple of friends and I were in Pit Stop on Columbia St in Brooklyn a few Wednesdays ago, with fond memories of a certain midweek free drink special. And there it was, printed on the menu-- "one free glass of beer or wine with every entree." We each decided to take them up on it. Well, when the bill came, we were charged for all of our drinks, and when we pointed it out to our waiter he said, "Yeah, there's a mistake on the menu, it shouldn't say that."
Odd. We all looked sort of surprised (we’d each enjoyed this special before, a few months ago), so he continued to explain that the free-drink-on-Wednesday thing is only applicable during the winter months, I guess to create an artificial sense of warmth when sat next to the drafty front door. This wouldn’t have been a big deal if he’d just pointed it out when he handed us our menus that the deal no longer stands—we would’ve ordered accordingly. But to say it was a mistake? I love you guys, but come on! Use those $30 from our three “free” drinks to reprint your menus, Pit Stop!
