This is the Thursday Opening Report, a regular feature that provides the precise status of venues. As per standard operating procedure around here, your contributions are so very welcome.
1) Upper West Side: TONY checks in on the opening of the Empire Hotel Rooftop, the Chodorow venture featuring a massive 3000 square feet of outdoor space. Details: “Three separate terraces offer views of Lincoln Center and Central Park, and an appropriately sleek bar— constructed of stacked metal pipes—dispenses specialty cocktails like the Oran’gin the Mood (orange juice, Bombay Sapphire, Patrón Citrónge and club soda)"; Status: Now open, 44 W 63rd Street, 212-265-7400. 2) West Village: Last week’s Kitchen Dish mentioned the opening of Juice Generation in the West Village last weekend and management themselves wrote us with the following info: “The store was designed by Hiro Tsuruta and Swee Phuah (Momofuko Noodle Bar)...We offer a full menu of fresh squeezed organic juices - sourced from local farms and orchards whenever possible. All of our soups are also made with organic ingredients from local farms and dairies.” Status: Certified Open. 171 W. 4th Street, 212-242-0440. [Eater Inbox; NYS]
3) Midtown: Flo Fab writes of the opening of Rose Club at the Plaza Hotel, which has been open for a couple of weeks. She writes: "This new balcony bar and lounge, on two levels, has food by Didier Virot that is as simple (chopped salad, a $34 burger, a cookie plate) as the room is plush and ornate (faux crocodile bar seats). It opens at noon daily” Status: Certified Open. The Plaza, 59th Street and Fifth Avenue, (212) 759-3000. [NYT]
