DOH Chronicles: Panya Bakery Down, Out

East Village: No this is not a restaurant. But the Japanese Bakery Panya, on Stuyvesant St. near St. Marks Bookshop, sells a number of delicate crustless sandwiches and intriguing baked goods that have somewhat of a cult following in the East Village. We can see why the tiny shop might not have passed muster with the DOH, but here's hoping for a speedy recovery.
