The former chef at Employees Only, Jeremy Spector, was one of over 100 people arrested this past week on warrants stemming from failure to appear in court on outstanding fire code summonses. According to the city's department of investigation, Spector - who is also the creator of that spiffy West Village food cart, Dogmatic Dogs - pled guilty to illegally storing propane tanks at Employees Only and was fined $250. Other Manhattan restaurants with individuals arrested in the sweep included Hiroko's Place in the West Village, Porky's Restaurant on 21st Street, and McKenna's Pub on 14th Street. In total, the fire department and department of investigation arrested 104 business owners, employees, and building owners during the week-long crackdown.
