TIMES SQUARE— Zagat Buzz has the intel on some renovations going on at Times Square joint China Club: "This weekend marks the end for the old-school (by club standards) China Club. Though it lost some of its luster since moving to Times Square from the Upper West Side in 1998, the 47th Street mainstay still managed to consistently attract a crowd...China Club's owners will shut its doors Friday night and reopen them on Saturday as Opera, with a new look for the dance floor." WEST VILLAGE— Centro Vinoteca is extending their hours, their menu, and their wifi capabilities. From the release: "Here are the details and the menu - the breakfast pizzetta with egg, taleggio and speck is amazing, so are baked eggs with sausage and bean ragu and a pot of baked ricotta with rosemary, lemon and toast...Breakfast will be served Mon- Fri 8am - 12 noon. Brunch is served on weekends. Free wifi is available all day." [EaterWire]
GREENWICH VILLAGE— The juice and smoothie bar Juice Generation will be opening a new location this spring. Per their press people: "Juice Generation has three locations in Manhattan and is opening a fourth in Greenwich Village at 171 W. 4th Street, betw. 6th & 7th Ave. So. Slated to open May 15, the new location is being designed by Hiro Tsuruta and Swee Phuah (Bar Q, Momofuku), who worked with Eric in 2004 on another location." [EaterWire]
THE MARKETING UNIVERSE—And over in the universe of ridiculous gimmicks we have this news via Epicurious: "Vlasic Pickles...is holding a contest to find a May-born baby to become its official Vlasic Stork Baby of 2008. In addition, if the parents decide to give their child the middle name "Crunch," they get a $25,000 savings bond. (Look, at least it's not being sponsored by Jones Breakfast Links.) Why? Because May is National Pickle Month, of course." [Epi-Log]
