1) East Village: Just last month, Bao 111 moved from its Avenue C home to a new spot in the West Village. No word yet on what's going to take its place, but here's an preliminary picture and report from out EVill correspondent: "...the picture is the space that was formerly Bao 111 on c between 7th and 8th...the worker said he thinks it's french and work should be done in about a month." 2) Greenwich Village: The long awaited third Manhattan Five Guys location is said to be opening soon over on LaGuardia: "A new five guys is opening on LaGuardia (west broadway) between Houston and Bleeker in the west village. The guys inside said it would be open 'next week.' Looked almost done with the interior complete and signage up. They are starting to take over.." [PLYWOOD]
3) Midtown West: A tipster writes in and TONY's Feed Blog reports that NYC ICY is coming back to the city. Fans of the long shuttered location on Avenue B and East 3rd St. will have no problem making the trek: "Walking in my neighborhood this afternoon, I spotted a new NYC Icy awning on 10th ave between 44th and 45th! Looks like the rumors are true-- it really is coming back! Very exciting." [PLYWOOD]
4) Midtown: Urbanite has the shot of a new Yolato opening in the Empire State Building: "The purveyor of frozen yogurt and gelato is opening on the tower's 33rd Street side, in the space once occupied by another frozen dessert shop, Uncle Louie G's." [PLYWOOD]
5) Chelsea: And here's some news on a new organic restaurant coming to West 19th St.: "Brand new Plywood on 19th street between 7th and 8th, close to 8th. Work permits don't say the name, but maybe we can guess from the spiritual babble on the window. My guess is ... Elemental? The space is tiny and has organic written all over it (green paint, leaves and nature vibe, crunchy prose on the window)." [PLYWOOD]
6) Park Slope: Fork in the Road has the news on Barrio, opening in the Slope: "It's the name of a new restaurant opening next week on 7th Avenue at 3rd Street, in the old Tempo Presto space. A guy working on the patio outside informed me curtly that the restaurant will be "Mexican." Kay. The food is unlikely to be as good as Tacos Nuevo Mexico down on 5th Avenue, but here's hoping for good margaritas and a nice outdoor seating area." [PLYWOOD]
7) Cobble Hill: Brownstoner brings us news on a new gourmet deli coming to Cobble Hill: "A new gourmet deli is taking the spot once occupied by the late, somewhat lamented Verandah Place Deli in Cobble Hill. The business is set to open in a few weeks and will have offerings like breakfast food and sandwiches, according to a nearby restaurant owner." [PLYWOOD]
8) Midtown East: Midtown Lunch reports on some plywood on new 43rd St. restaurant Crisp: "What exactly is Crisp you ask? No info on their website, but we get two clues: 'Fast fresh food that syncs your taste with your conscience.' And, 'It’s not what you think. It’s better.'" [PLYWOOD]
9) Astoria: Joey in Astoria is reporting on the comeback of Mano's Papaya: "Mano's is coming back, just ten blocks West on 30th Avenue and 30th street. I spied its new location yesterday and it looks like they'll be opening in a couple of months--we'll make sure to keep you posted." [PLYWOOD]
