2008_03_cheyenne.jpgAfter 68 years, The Cheyenne Diner, one of the few free standing diners left in the city, is set to shutter this Sunday. It lost its lease to a larger diner around the corner, Skylight, whose owners plan to build a nine story apartment building on the space with a restaurant underneath: "'We broke our butts here, but the day of one-story structures in Manhattan is over,' he [owner Spiros Kasimis] said, adding that he's looking for a new location in the Hell's Kitchen-Chelsea area." According to AMNY , Cheyenne officials also contacted the American Diner Museum to discuss the possibilities of relocating the diner's structure a la the Moondance. [NYDN, AMNY]
