Tomorrow, Frank Bruni reviews Mia Dona, the East Side collaboration of Donatella Arpaia and chef Michael Psilakis. Today, the Eater oddsmakers have set the action as follows:
Zero Stars: 8-1So, Michael Psilakis has a very solid Bruni tarck record. He hasn't broken the deuce ceiling, but at Dona and Anthos he's made getting two stars look easy (and Kefi got a rave from Meehan's $25 and Under). This is the first time in recent times that he has opened a restaurant on the Meehan-Bruni bubble. It's a problem for the chef that The Light Bruntastic has called dibs, if he's looking for multiple stars. Its not going to be a pan, not by a margin, but the casual food here, especially as a dressed down version of Dona, is a hard sell at more than a star. Two stars isn't the most outrageous bet ever made, especially because this is a restaurant repped by Bullfrog & Baum, but Eater is betting on a very solid one star.
One Star: 3-1 ??
Two Stars: 4-1
Three Stars: 8-1
Four Stars: 15,000-1
· Mia Dona [NYT; after 8:00 PM]
