EAST VILLAGE—If you're paying close attention you'll remember Ukrainian staple Veselka has plans in the works to open a restaurant in the new Avalon building at 9 East 1st St. The above photo, taken at the pre-plywooded space, reveals that they will approach the Community Board next Monday to get their liquor license. We doubt the board will give them too much trouble (people love them their pierogis), but residents have been quick to protest in that area of late. [Eater Wire]
WILLIAMSBURG—Curbed has the news that Kellogg's Diner, that late night greasy spoon on Union Ave., is getting a makeover. Or rather, it's getting a new building wrapped around it: "It will include 28,751 square feet of retail space on two levels and is being pitched to a big box retailer, although one of the renderings says 'grocery store' at street level. The pitch from the Winnick Group, which is marketing the retail, says that the a store would serve 'a million shoppers hungry for big-box convenience.'" Click through for the renderings. [Curbed]
WEST VILLAGE—Guest of a Guest brings us the news that four month-old West Village restaurant/lounge Bobo, which just recently got some new chefs by way of Hearth and Redhook's 360, is a huge hit for fashion week. Proof: Bono's wife is throwing the party for her label there. [Guest of a Guest]
BED STUY—Might not matter to anyone outside of Bed Stuy, but Rustic Tavern opened this weekend and Bed-Stuy Blog has the full reveal (and what a reveal it is). [Bed-Stuy Blog]
