This must be some kind of inside joke amongst chefs, because it's gone way over our head. Seems Zak Pelaccio (of Fatty Crab and consulting on a thousand restaurants fame), Josh DeChellis (of the doomed BarFry), Will Goldfarb (of Picnick, Dessert Studio, and general hooker fame) and Robert Truitt (Room4Dessert) are collaborating on a space called The Windsor, set to open at the end of March. The reveal, via The Life Vicarious, is in the form of a James Beard event listing:
"Preview what is sure to become one of the hottest downtown dining destinations of 2008...Join four of NYC’s most buzzworthy chefs as they introduce the Windsor, the cozy yet elegant collaboration they hope will become a hangout for chefs and food lovers alike."The location of this surefire hit is not mentioned, but it's likely to be either 48 Carmine, which shares a garden with BarFry, or 51 Carmine, a space that DeChellis' was rumored to have taken over for a raw bar. "All the more reason too, to open sometime after the end of March," notes The Life Vicarious about the first space in re the shared garden. As for the kind of brunch one might procure at this spot, where only Truitt is likely to spend any real time cooking, the Beard event listing is pimping such items as a Veal Terrine alla Milanese with Endive–Parsley Salad and Sauce Gribiche. Just the thing you'll crave for brunch when the universe runs out of eggs.
