1) East Village: There's some big chain shutter news from the East Village/NYU Row: "I wanted to bring to your attention the loss of the Taco Bell/ Pizza Hut Express on 3rd Ave between 10th and 11th. Not a huge loss, but a worthy one. Their claim to fame in my book was refusing to honor a coupon I had once, on account of them being an Express." [Shutter Inbox]

2) Midtown East: And in what seems to be a growing trend these days, another institution, the small French L’Entrecôte is closing after 38 years. According to the Times, it closes this Saturday. [NYT]

3) East Village: The Zagat reports on a number of closings this week, notably the only nine month-old Bodeguita Cubana. [Zagat]
