WEST VILLAGE—Last we checked in on Day-O it was closed for renovations for the second time in six months. A tipster sent in a little more info on what's going on behind the scenes. From the inbox: "I heard at the gym today that Day-O on Greenwich closed because the landlord wouldn't renew their lease. And I guess the landlord is forcing out the hair dresser around the corner from Day-O at the end of their lease in August so he can sell the building." [EaterWire]
MEATPACKING DISTRICT—Looks like the Sobe Food & Wine fest madness will be making its way to NYC: "Last week Mr. Schrager came to an agreement with New York officials to run a two-day food festival in the meatpacking district on Columbus Day weekend. ‘We're going to close Ninth Avenue,’ he said." GREENPOINT—Gothamist has a sneak peak at Greenpoint's newest bar t.b.d., and she's prettier than folks are used to in those parts. Word is it'll be open by the weekend: "The future residents of the Magic Johnson’s 130-unit condo down the block are sure to flock to the sleek 2,500 square feet lounge, which features three flatscreen TVs (intended for video art, not sports, according to Foley). There are twelve beers on tap and some catered comfort food, like mac ‘n’ cheese and zucchini pie." [Gothamist]
