The Plywood Report: Fika, Bar Breton, Flip, Barra, and Seoul Station

1) Flatiron: A tipster reports that Bar Breton, the new spot on 28th and 5th promised in the fall previews to be opening "Mid October", is getting closer to its debut. The plywood is down, the interiors are finished, and it could be soft open by next week. The restaurant comes to us from Fleur de Sel's Cyril Renaud. [PLYWOOD]

2) Midtown: As usual, Cutlets has the latest from Pat LaFrieda: "Flip...will debut at Bloomingdale’s in January, and get this: it will feature an entire line of LaFrieda burgers! There will be a brisket-blend burger, a short-rib blend burger, and various other mixes, as well as turkey and salmon “burgers” for vegetarians and anorexics." [PRE-PLYWOOD]

3) East Village: A tipster reports on a new Korean "fast food-like" restaurant Seoul Station opening at 81 St. Mark's Place (between 1st and 2nd). They tell us the owner is from the neighborhood. [PLYWOOD]

4) Lower East Side: A correspondent chimes in with news of a cevicheria called Barra opening on the LES: "The place is on Broome between Orchard and Ludlow right where LES Sandwicherie was. They have the paper sign in the window and two people were working inside. It's a really small space. One person was painting the the name on the window while the other was cleaning up the space. When I asked when they were going to open they said probably next week. We'll see about that..." [PLYWOOD]

5) Gramurray: Another branch of the sleek Swedish Fika Espresso Bar, pictured above, is getting close to opening at 28th and Park. The other NY branch is on West 58th. [PLYWOOD]
