Upper East Side: Opening up in the supposedly cursed Zoe Townhouse/Jovia/Rouge space on East 62nd, we have David Burke's latest venture Fishtail. The two floor space clocks in at 3,800 square feet, seats 120 people, and rivals The John Dory in the number of kitschy nautical details found throughout the dining room and bar (the bar lampshades, see photo four, are a particularly nice touch).
The menu, overseen by exec chef Eric Hara, is of course heavy on the seafood, provided by Burke's own fishing boat (and supplemented by the Hunts Point Market). The focus here is sustainable seafood, and as such, entree prices hover in the mid $30 range while aps are $11-18. The restaurant opened to the public last night and will host a media preview tonight. We'll be keeping an eye out to see if the restaurant can overcome problems its predecessors at this space couldn't.
