It's time for another edition of Adventures in Shilling, in which we fight shilling the best way we can, by shaming tasteless, unscrupulous shills into submission. Well, that's the plan, at least. Fight shills yourself by dropping offensive links to tips@eater.com

2008_12_oakroom.jpgFor this special Friday edition of Adventures in Shilling, we turn our shill detectors over to the newly reopened Oak Room in the Plaza Hotel. Let's be clear: the space is beautiful, and it's gotten some positive reviews from both the Cuozz and Jay Cheshes over at TONY. That said, there are some incredibly suspicious comments on both of those critics' reviews as well as on the Yelp. First, a look at the minor offender:

The Yelp review is the least suspicious of what we've read, but it's still fairly suspect (and for the most part makes no sense): "such a Magic cuisine!!! I went there for the Thanksgiving special menu... and from the starters to the desserts, every plate was great ! Very very tasty, many details in the dishes revealing the different tastes you can find in it. Prestigious decors and service of quality."

TONY's review of the place this week inspired quite a number of shills and positive comments. This is our favorite: "BRAVO!!!! we went to the Oak Room for dinner with friends and it was an amazing experience!! The lighting and the ambience was beatiful. The room is large yet intimate, so warm and elegant. the food was delicious! Absolutely incredible. Each of us were more impressed than the next. Service was impecable, all together a perfect new york evening and the bill was very reasonable!! We had drinks in the bar after, which is sexy and bustling. Piano player was fabulous. Our new fav spot!"

Better than TONY's comments are the three left on the Cuozz's review. All are left within one hour of each other, and all are amazing. The first: "i had dinner last night, food was amazing and the prices not hight at all, gien the loaction and kind of staff.the bar was the best bar seen in the word.we wlaked in and micheal douglas was right in our face.i wish them best of luck ,i dont remmber have this kind of dinning exprince in new york"

The second shill on the Cuozz's s review: "I don't normally comment on these websites but my experience at the Oak Room and Bar was so fabulous it warrents a shout out. Our dinner was divine. Bravo to the chef. I feel like the menu is so fresh and i can't wait to go back to try everything else! I had the Tuna Tartar which was incredible and the Dover Sole which was light but rich at the same time. Absolutely perfect experience. Bar was fab as well. We hung out for hours after dinner, we didnt want to leave!!!"

And the third from the Cuozz page: "REASONABLE PRICES! not sure what Cuzzo ordered but i went with my husband and the bill was completely reasonable. The food was outstanding, better than any meal i have had at cipriani or any restaurant around the area. The Bar scene was crazy. Great energy, live piano, stylish decor, we needed a place like this to go!!! Ita a real New York Staple."
