1) Lower East Side: San Marzano is readying to open on the northwest corner of Clinton and Rivington. The entrance is on Rivington, but its side abuts the 71 Clinton Fresh Food space, interesting because at one point and time, San Marzano had a liquor license in for the latter space (which will now become The Fat Hippo). Eventually they made the switch around the corner to what looks like a bigger space. The pizza place is the second location of a three month-old Long Island joint. [PLYWOOD]
2) East Village: Jeremiah Moss notices some progress on 1st Avenue: "Absinthe is set to open in the former B&M meat market space on 1st Ave between 6th and 7th. It's got beer taps, a bar, and a backyard dining area. CB3 approved their license with several anti-noise stipulations..." [PLYWOOD]
3) Park Slope: A new spot is finally readying to open in the old Tea Lounge space in Park Slope. Via Gowanus Lounge: "After much rumor and speculation, a Hanco’s Vietnamese Sandwich and Bubble Tea sign appeared outside the old Tea Lounge on 7th and 10th in Park Slope. If it is anything like its twin in Boerum Hill, this Hanco’s will offer vietnamese sandwiches, bubble teas, and other vietnamese snacks." [PLYWOOD]
4) Greenpoint: Our roving photographer notices the heavy-duty plywood has come down from the space on Franklin and Kent that will soon open as a bar and/or restaurant, River Bellel. [PLYWOOD]
5) East Village: EV Grieve notices a sign for barista help at an upcoming coffee shop on Lower Avenue B between 3rd and 4th. Any further details are welcome. [PLYWOOD]
