No better time than this balmy winter afternoon for you high-rolling eaters to start planning for one of the biggest food events of the year: The Aspen Food & Wine Classic. Tickets went on sale today for the 3-day event, and until March 15, they're going for a whopping $1,085 ($1,185 after that). First timers should note that this event is the opposite of the Sobe and New York Wine & Food festivals in that your one ticket covers all events, seminars, and parties. And keep in mind this is before air fare and hotels, so you're looking at a $10k expense for a couple.
That said, it's one of the more intimate and star-studded food events around (like running into Batali on the street and partying with JGV intimate), and it sells out pretty much every year. For those of you who can shell out the cash this time around, the usual big names are on the docket: Tommy C, Mario Batali, Ming Tsai, Gail Simmons, Jean-Georges, Danny Meyer, and, in a first time appearance, Clover Club's Julie Reiner. Read up on the '08 event here.
