West Village: The past year and a half has proven to be a grim one for Hudson Street: Hunan Pan, MaMa Buddha, and most recently, Monster Sushi have all shuttered due to rising rents/landlord issues. Now, an inside source drops the sad news that neighborhood favorite Da Andrea will close by the end of this year. Luckily, it's not as bad as it sounds.
Their website confirms the shutter, but also promises it will reopen at 35. W. 13th Street in February. Meanwhile, the long-shuttered Hudson Corner Cafe remains dormant, long after it was reported that an Indochine/Bond Street vet would be taking the place over. MaMa Buddha's former space is reportedly becoming a bank. Get it together, Hudson Street. Still hanging in there after all these years: White Horse, D6, Cowgirl, and Philip Marie.
