WEST VILLAGE— A West Villager writes in with a curious report. Although he noticed that Greenwich Ave's new dessert spot/cafe Sweetipie did in fact open to the public before the holiday weekend for at least a night or two, it is newly papered up. [EaterWire]

EAST VILLAGE— Though many have speculated on the future of East Village cocktail spot Death & Co, we at least know they'll be open through the new year. Owner David Kaplan is selling 60 $100 tickets to his New Years Eve Party, which will feature "Specialty Cocktails, Champagne, food, Rare Spirits, Bearded Bartenders, Dear Friends, Drunken Sots." MIDTOWN— Midtown Lunch reports that a Midtown Chipotle (45th between 5th nd 6th) will be giving away free burritos for the next three Tuesdays between 5 - 7 p.m. [ML]

NEW YORK CITY— Zagat is teaming up with 16 major New York City restaurants to host a two month-long series of "Vintage Dinners." Each restaurant will replicate a menu from the 19th century for one night only, giving a portion of the proceeds to a NYC charity. Participating restaurants include Adour, Aureole, Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Bouley, Café des Artistes, Chanterelle, Daniel, Del Posto, Gramercy Tavern, Jean Georges, La Grenouille, Le Bernardin, Le Cirque, Ouest, Per Se and Picholine.
