Fall is a time for restaurant openings. Lots of them. Restaurateurs will make promises, excite us, with their grand plans. Consider this here the intel you need to keep abreast of it all—and start obsessing at just the right moment.
Back in the beginning of September, all of the big papers and websites published their Fall Dining Previews. As usual, they projected over 50 restaurants to open between Labor Day and Christmas, and as usual, only a fraction of those have made it there. Last month, we compiled a list of the September openings, and today we follow up to see who managed to open to the public last month. A brief update on which places are open, which will open soon, and which are indefinitely delayed:
Opening First Half of November:
Bouley: Reservationists have been cagey, telling diners it will open "soon"
Boqueria Soho: Media Party Monday, Open to the public when gas is turned on
10 Downing: Open for friends and family, aiming for the public on the 12th
Salumeri Rosi: Aiming for the 14th
The John Dory: Aiming for the 14th
The Oak Room: Aiming for the 12th
Bar Breton: Not a peep since fall previews projected "Mid-October"
Brooklyn Bowl: They are aiming for late '08 - early '09
Casa La Femme: Not a peep since fall previews projected "September"
City Winery: Press preview November 19, public opening to follow
Kefi: two weeks ago they said "three weeks," but we're not counting on that
La Otra: could be coming soon
Nuela: Originally projected to open "October" (and before that August)
Permanent Brunch: Was projected for "Mid-October"
Shang: Set to open after Gourmet Party on the 17
Co.: Technically this was a "fall" projection, so they have a few more weeks before being officially "delayed"
Fatty 'Cue: Projected to open in "November" back in fall previews
L'Artusi: Projected to open in "November" just a few weeks ago
SHO Shaun Hergatt: Projected for Mid-December
Table 8: Projected for December
