The Fishy Bar Inside the John Dory

1) MePa: As we reported last week, the gas man has finally paid a visit to The John Dory, and the resy line is now open. The projected opening date was today, however the website indicates it was open as early as Thursday night. Status: Certified Open. 85 10th Avenue, 212-929-4948. [~E~]

2) Tribeca: NYMag has word that Fall Tracking superstar, Macao Trading Co. will open this week, a tad earlier than predicted. They write: “?the second venture from the team behind Employees Only. Specific ingredients are given a bi-cultural treatment: Portuguese-style lamb meatballs, for instance, are stuffed with cheese and served with paprika sauce; their Chinese equivalents are made with ground pork, rolled in sticky rice, and steamed. This approach is the contribution of David Waltuck, chef-owner of Chanterelle and inveterate Chinatown-market maven, and his sous-chef Keith Harry.” Phone calls confirm it open. Status: Certified Open. 311 Church Street; 212-431-8750. [NYM]

3) Carroll Gardens: NYMag also reports that BoCoCa newbie, Buttermilk Channel will open this week with chef Ryan Angulo at the helm. They write: “His American bistro menu includes both grass-fed beefsteak (presumably not from Governors Island) and buttermilk batter–fried chicken. Those and the rest of the offerings seem geared for these comfort-starved times...The space is homey, too, with a butcher-block bar and a communal table made out of ceiling beams from an old Red Hook warehouse.” Status: Not open. Opening tomorrow. 524 Court Street, Carroll Gardens; 718-852-8490. [NYM]

4) FiDi: NYMag has it that a new French brasserie called Perle will be making its debut this week in the cuisine-starved Financial District. They write: “Every neighborhood deserves a stylish French brasserie, and that’s what Mario Carta and chef Franck Hiorholzer intend to bring to the financial district with the opening of Perle. The dinner menu plays it straight with everything from escargot to boeuf bourguignon, to say nothing of steak frites...” Status: Not open. Opening tomorrow at 6:30 62 Pearl Street; 212-248-4848. [NYM]

5) East Village: Cutlets reports today that ramen eatery Ramen Setagaya has opened its second outpost on St. Mark's. He writes: "Tiny, simple and spare, the new spot features a similar menu to the other location except that its noodles are served in a soy sauce-based syoyu broth instead of a salt-based shio broth. Why the owners would want to open another location only 1 1/2 blocks from their original location is beyond me, but quite frankly I don’t think this city can ever have too many ramen joints." Status: Certified Open. 34-A St. Marks Place; 212-387-7959. [The FB]
