Adventures in Poor Timing: Oh Restaurant and Lounge

New, 3 comments

Harlem: A number of blogs are chiming in to report on the the latest (poorly timed) opening, Oh Restaurant and Lounge in Harlem, which held its debut last night. Now, while there's been a modicum of buzz about the new clubs and restaurants uptown, much as is the case with City Winery, you've got to assume the concept sounded a lot more attractive, oh, about a year ago.

It's a three-story bar, lounge, restaurant and private club on West 145th St. Membership to the third floor club runs $500 if you just want "top notch service" and food and drinks at discount prices, $1000 for "full VIP access" ( and access to the cigar terrace!).

The highlight of what we've read so far about this place—other than a blogger calling the above couch "very sexy red"—is the statement from the owners on how they're going to survive opening a three story monster into this economic albatross:

"During an economic downturn when many businesses are failing, OH will focus on building strategic alliances with other establishments to expand market penetration and allow cross promotion."
Relief.
