In Chicago with a whimsical appetite
I take my dad to Alinea for a tasting night
Grant's got a menu extraordinaire
Without typical midwestern T-bone & potato fare

My dad eyes the first course with suspicion
A tiny bite held by fishing wire in suspension?
I'm going hungry tonight, he claims
While you go broke, he adds with disdain

Ten further courses restore Dad's pluck
As he slooowwly savors single bites of spicy plum and.. gelatinous duck!
By the time desserts- plural- arrive
Dad's being converted by Grant's stealth disguise

For what Grant Achatz aims to do, and succeeds
Is not con the well to-do, with overpriced, measly feeds
But rather convince the foodies and laypeople and in between
The meditative, intellectual beauty that nourishments bring
