Plywood Report: Grange Hall To Open Next as Commerce, in February

New, 6 comments

Inside 50 Commerce, 1/3/08.

We're uncovering the details by committee on Commerce, Harold Moore's forthcoming entry at 50 Commerce Street, once Grange Hall, in the West Village. Cutlets had the earliest word on the venue, being that Montrachet and March alum Harold Moore was probably taking the space. Next, we had a report that the Cutlets intel was accurate, plus the lease was signed and that Moore was in name and concept going to restore Grange Hall. Also, Moore was shooting for an August 2007 debut. Finally, yesterday, the TONY Feed blog dropped word that another Montrachet alum, Tony Zazula, is heading up operations at the restaurant and that it will be called Commerce—and that it is now on track for February.

Here are two more new developments to round out the day in Commerce. First, unlike so many new downtown restaurants, these dudes have their liquor license locked up and ready to roll. Cheers. Second, it seems very likely that the interior of the restaurant will go mostly unchanged from its days as Blue Mill. A photo of the venue leaked to us last week (above) indicates as much. More to come as the opening date draws closer.
